*= Favorites. I've liked most of the games I played in, but these were the ones that took my breath away. The ones I'm still talking about years after. %= Games I enjoyed a lot less.
Question marks instead of character name mean either the character's identity is secret or I forgot it.

I've been utter fail at reading, lately. Here, let's try this again. Ten books I want to read:
1. Black Heart, by Holly Black. 2. The Killing Moon, by N. K. Jemisin 3. With Fate Conspire, by Marie Brennan 4. Deadline, by Mira Grant 5. Orca, by Steven Brust (I think I've had long enough to get over the stultifying bad that was Athyra) 6. Son of Neptune, by Rick Riordan 7. Mastiff, by Tamora Pierce 8. The Gastronomical Me, by M. F. K. Fisher 9. Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor 10. Redshirts, by John Scalzi |

| "Across the Sea of Stars" Interest Poll Reblogged |
[May. 26th, 2012|01:24 pm] |
vortexofchaos and his fellow GMs are gauging interest for a re-run of Across the Sea of Starts. Lily wants to play. Lily crossposts.
Original post is here!
Those of you who'd also like to play should comment to said original post. Those of you who've already played and might be interested in helping GM should also comment. |

wired_lizard and I will be leaving to pet-sit adorable kitties today! I still need to pack.
I've started reading N. K. Jemisin's new book, The Killing Moon, yesterday. The writing's still great, but, I don't know. I'm not really feeling it. Despite the Inheritance Trilogy being larger in scope, with all the gods and their goings-on, it was also more intimate, the conflict more personal to the characters, from Yeine trying to avenge her mother's murder, to Sieh coping with [spoiler spoiler]. Here, the characters are still well-written, but the things they work for aren't as directly personal to them, and their voices aren't capturing me the way the Inheritance protags did.
I also have the final book of Holly Black's Curse Workers Trilogy (Black Heart) out of the library. Somehow, I don't think that one will have the impersonal problem. |

How would you, Boston-area LARPers, feel about a summer event of some kind? There are a bunch of game-runners, P&C included, who'd be interested in running games over the summer. What do you think? Any dates people are likely to prefer or have a difficult time with? How large an event would you be up for? Single games? A day-long event (probably two games back-to-back)? A weekend?

Also, signs that I've passed the critical GM mass: My fingers keep twitching to check out other people's campaign LARP apps. And then, I realize, whups, I am not a GM, I can't read those. |
